The ToolsLibrary
A community-driven, open-source mutual aid platform. Built with a strict zero-PII (Personally Identifiable Information) architecture and licensed under AGPL-3.0, our goal is to empower neighborhoods to organize physical tool handoffs, share maker equipment, and support local initiatives—like free pantries and community gardens—without harvesting or monetizing user data. (tools-library.com)
We believe communities are stronger when they share, and our software is entirely free to use and deploy. However, running the centralized infrastructure to keep everyone connected comes with recurring costs.
Where Your Contributions Go
Infrastructure & Hosting: Covering the monthly costs of our bare-metal Fedora CoreOS servers, Cloudflare tunnels, and domain renewals that keep the main web application, our LeafWiki documentation, and our Matrix chat server online. Platform Maintenance: Funding routine deployments and keeping our Next.js architecture secure and up to date. Future Milestones: As our recurring funding stabilizes, excess contributions will be saved toward larger goals, including a professional accessibility (a11y) audit, a security bug bounty pool, and directly funding local community resources like repairing heavily used shared tools.
All funds go directly toward keeping the platform online, secure, and completely free of paywalls and advertisements. Whether you can chip in a few dollars a month or just want to contribute code to our GitHub repository, your support helps us build better tools for local communities.
